Sliderocket, the online presentation tool, has today come out of private beta and is now public, open to all.  If you did not get in to the private round, you’ve got to check this out now.  Sliderocket is one of the most fantastic web apps out there.  It has features that help you create stunning presentations very easily, and is organized in a collaborative way that would work really well for a small business, or perhaps for a department that relies on frequently creating presentations with shared assets (images, templates, videos…) such as a sales or marketing department. With the opening to the public, comes a new release with some interesting new collaboration features.  Still sorely missing is a feature to export files to common presentation formats such as .odf or .ppt.

If you still haven’t tried Sliderocket, now is the time to give it a go, this is definetly one of the new web tools worth trying.

Open the FoxyProxy options

Click on Proxies —–>Add New Proxy ——>General (Check enable,Proxy Name: Tetherbot, Leave blank Proxy Notes, Select Animation icon & Include this proxy) ———->Proxy Details (Select Manual Proxy Configuration, Host name: localhost Port: 1080, Select Socks proxy?-Socks v5) ———->

Click ok and a warning message should appear saying “You didn’t enter and enable any white…..” Hit yes

Tool——> FoxyProxy>Use Proxy “Tetherbot for all URLs
Make sure you to Check “Use SOCKS proxy for DNS lookups” Is Under Global Settings.

with freecreditreport.com and get a free credit report but of course you have seen the funny commercials. Also you can go to annualcreditreport.com but for some reason at the time of this writing the site is down,( everything with the US is down)

Keep track of your spending online.

I use Mint.com While quicken seem to work ok too and it has a now free online service I started using Mint and so far I like it a lot. It lets me know how much I owe and my total worth, haha, which by now with all my student loans added it about -50,000 dollars and guess what? I just moved and I am looking for a job.

Unless you want to wait in a line, never go to a bank after a holy day or on Mondays because more that likely its going to be full and you are going to waste your time. haha, funny my mom said the same thing about going for a check up, she said that Mondays is packed cause all the people that get sick during the weekend come on mondays.

Lots of companies invest ton on money on ads, just yesterday I was helping out with an ads campaign for money tree which was pretty funny. The above is one of their adds but its not the one I was working on.

We need help developing an online course for teens to learn Blender.

I think that using blender to introduce teens into learning 3D is not such a great choice because I believe using blender would scare kids away from 3d.

Yes blender is free but that doesn’t mean its easy to use. Like Maya, Blender has a confusing menu system and it has a steep learning curb that would more than likely misguide kids and discourage them. I would recommend teaching them on a program like modo (luxology.com) since the program makes it so easy to learn 3d plus it is used by many production houses to produce assets while still using other programs like maya or blender for animation or effects. modo has a really nice educational program I would recomend you would check it out. ( And not I am not getting kick backs)

Work overload. They way I see it, manager keep handing the work load down the ladder and the poor employees in the bottom do most of the work. Maintaining a web presence is a team effort. It requires everybody to be in the same page.

According to one of the developers the was at dmv since the beginning ,whom I’ll call  Ramon for the purpose of the paper, said that the website started just as a handbook page. The drivers handbook was released, Ramon says that he thought it was the coolest thing at that time. Now if you visit the archive.org site, you can see the development of the website as the years go by and more and more content was added to the page. They moved from table design to css and xhtml and so forth yet the content still kept growing. Ramon said that he was hired as a fool time and then come others. The web team at dmv stated using the early version of Adobe Dreamweaver starting with version one. The team has been using dream-weaver since the beginning and their work flow has not change much in all those years. Dev on the local drive, test site and production. With hundreds of pages to be updated monthly, the work is enormous and plain. With the California mandates to maintain a Spanish site that mirrors the English site, along with accessibility mandates, the work goes to the roof top and yet the resources available are the same.   But it is no DMV’s fault for the stagnation in content management, it’s the way the system was built.

What needs to happen?

ca.gov needs to provide a way for all the departments to move all the content to databases and those databases be managed by a CMS (content management system) but databases, according to ca.gov, present a security risk and should be avoided. The system is so fragmented  that it actually serves as a security barrier because no two people know how the whole things works.

California government needs to embrace open source, it would save tons of money and less headaches. Move away from Microsoft servers and client software, stop trying to write everything from scratch and pick up an open source project and make it better and customized.  Embrace open source PHP and MySQL.

I would recommend drupal for its strong International support.
But DotNetNuke might be a better choice for the state since the state of california has a lot of money invested in Windows architecture plus DotNetNuke is very easy to manipulate.
